Yu-Gi-Oh! Champion of the Lair – Rodney Ellis

On Sunday, September 28, 2014, The Hidden Lair had it’s biggest turnout! Twenty three players came out to play for a Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack. With this large group, fighting to get to the top was going to be quite the feat. With plenty of Meta decks to face it was going to be a long day. Burning Abyss, Lightsworn Shaddolls and many other decks were present to battle in the fray.

The finals came down to multi-champion of the lair, Josh Thomas playing Burning Abyss Deck and Rodney Ellis playing Madolches. Burning Abyss is not a deck to be messed with, but Madolches haven’t touched the Meta in a while ever since the release of Primal Origins. But Rodney was relentless, he didn’t give in to Burning Abyss’ constant stream of monsters and traps. During the final match it was a slobberknocker between a Vanity’s Fiend and a Madolche Hootcake. Once we thought Josh had the game in the bag Rodney attacks the Vanity’s Fiend. With Madolche Chateau on the field he still doesn’t have enough to walk over Vanity’s Fiend… In the damage step Rodney drops a Forbidden Lance, destroying Josh’s Vanity’s Fiend winning the match.

Congratulations to Rondey Ellis for becoming a Champion of the Lair. You can view his deck profile here!
